About British Columbia Institute of Technology - BCIT
The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) opened in 1964 and is British Columbia's largest polytechnic. It teaches applied, job-focused certificates, diplomas, bachelor's and master's degrees through six schools: Business and Media, Computing and Academic Studies, Construction and the Environment, Energy, Health Sciences and Transportation. Over 44,000 students study each year across five campuses, with the main campus in Burnaby and specialist campuses for aerospace, marine and construction. Its two-year diplomas such as Computer Systems Technology are strongly linked to industry.

Most full-time BCIT programmes start in September and some in January. For Computer Systems Technology the international deadlines are 2 July (September) and 1 November (January); the September 2026 intake is closed and January 2027 is open. Many programmes are first-come, first-served, so apply early.

Academic Requirements
Undergraduate
Class 12 equal to BC English 12 (67%) and Pre-Calculus 12 (67%) for technology diplomas. IELTS 6.5 (no band < 5.5) or Duolingo 120. Diplomas 2 years; degrees 4 years.
Postgraduate
Bachelor's degree in a related field for BCIT master's programmes; IELTS 6.5 (no band < 5.5), same as Category 2. Advanced diplomas need a prior diploma or degree.
