About The University of British Columbia
The University of British Columbia (UBC) traces its roots to the University Act of 1908, held its first classes in 1915 and opened its Point Grey campus in Vancouver in 1925. It is a public research university with two main campuses, Vancouver and Okanagan (Kelowna), and over 50,000 students in total. About 25.4 per cent of Vancouver students are international (17.4 per cent at Okanagan). UBC placed 45th in the QS World University Rankings 2027, third among Canadian universities, and offers 250+ undergraduate and 240+ graduate programmes.
